Istill can't believe that Macie is here and I look at her and truely realize how much of a miracle she is. I just love her so much!
My labor and delivery was actually pretty easy. Jim and I were hanging out at our house on Saturday night. I was so pregnant that all I wanted to do was sit in the pool. So, we did. After we got out I was sitting at the computer (probably on myspace) and I thought "hmm, did my water just break?". I tried to think nothing of it...until I stood up. At that point I was like "DAMN, my water just broke!" - haha. Long story short, I called my OB and they sent me to the hospital to get checked. We arrived at St. Joe's Women's Hospital at 12:45am on Sunday morning. The nurse in triage checked me out and determined that my water did break. In fact, her exact words were, "oh yeah, you two are leaving here with a baby". Jim and I looked at each other with HUGE eyes. Kinda like...HOLY COW!
I was having contractions but not feeling them and I was only 1cm dilated. They gave my body the opportunity to start labor on its own, but it didn't. At 4am they gave me Pitocin to kick my body into labor. For some reason I wanted to wait for the epidural. I guess I wanted to see what it all actually felt like. I held out for five hours, got the epidural at 9am and returned to 'happy deana". In the end, I had about 12 hours of labor, pushed for 38 minutes and little Macie was born at 4:39pm. She weighed 7lbs. 13oz. and has a full head of brown hair!
I was lucky to have such an easy labor and delivery. I was up and around the next day with no problems at all. Now, I look at my husband and my daughter and I have never been so happy in my entire life....
